18 years?!

We spent our 18th anniversary in Massachusetts. It was a nice, relaxing weekend. One day we walked around Rockport. It reminded me a little of St. Augustine, all of the quaint shops on the edge of the water. It is a beautiful place. These two pictures were taken there.

The colors in New England are as beautiful as I've been told! I haven't seen autumn leaves in ten years and I'd forgotten how vibrant they can be. The pictures do not do them justice!

We visited Tom's sisters, Caroline and Eileen. It was good to visit them and to be on Tom's home turf. We drove past the house where Tom's grandmother lived and where his mother spent time as a child.
We walked through the battlefields and roads of Concord and Lexington (the shot heard round the world). I felt like I was on hallowed ground as I imagined the minutemen hiding behind the rock walls and shooting at the redcoats marching along the road. I could feel the anxiety that the early settlers felt as they fought for their (our) independence from the English.
We sat on the hilltop just outside Concord where the minutemen counseled together as they watched the buildings of the town burn. I believe they also counseled with the Lord before they made the decision to attack the English along the battlefield road.
The minutemen looked down on this bridge and waited as the redcoats crossed over it on their march inland.
It was a nice break - we did what we wanted, went where we wanted and didn't have any schedule we had to keep. It was very relaxing!
I am so grateful to my Florida family! Thanks to Teresa, Deidre and Carole! They are always so willing to help us get Cait and Zac where they need to be and see that they are taken care of!! I trust them implicitly and know that my kids are in good hands with them!

I have an Aunt who lives in Rockport with her family! I can't believe you went there and I didn't know! They own and operate the Village Silversmith jewelry store. As well as two other jewelry stores that I can't remember the names of.

You are right; it is as beautiful as people say it is. I can't wait to go back for a visit. I'm glad you two got this trip together. You deserve all the best there is! Congrats on making it 18 years.
